The National
Exchange Club of Butte's mission is to make the community a better place to live through projects that promote Americanism, community service, youth activities and the prevention of child abuse. In the 2009-2010 fiscal year the Club contributed over $26,000 to local projects and organizations.
To support the development of leaders for the future, the Club contributed $2,300 to the YMCA for its Youth in Leadership program and awarded $7,900 in college scholarships as part of the Club’s Youth of the Year and A.C.E. programs. Over $3,700 was contributed to local organizations for cultural and youth activities.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters received $2,550 for Child Abuse Prevention programs. Children in transition were supported with $1,900 of Christmas gifts for local foster children and a $1,000 contribution was made to The Intermountain Children’s Home for a playground. In addition, $2,500 was awarded to local relief agencies to support needy children.
The club purchased over $1,300 in materials and volunteered dozens of hours to clean and paint the Fire House and Engine exhibit at the World Museum of Mining. Other community service projects included maintaining flower beds Uptown, highway cleanup and distributing American flags for free to over 10,000 Butte citizens at the Fourth of July parade.
